Patient Choice (Referrals)
What is patient choice?
If you and your GP decide that you need to see a specialist for more treatment, you can now choose where and when to have your treatment from a list of hospitals and clinics.
Your local choices are included in a booklet entitled "Choosing your Hospital", available from your surgery. If you do not want to receive your treatment at a local hospital, your surgery will be able to tell you about your choices for other hospitals across England. Your Doctor may also be able to suggest community-based services such as GPs with Special Interests or Community Clinics.
